SPITFIRE
Don't Prey for me | Spitfire | Young Gods | Jam | Little of the Past
Incredibly, the Gulf War nearly stopped the Angels' second album in it's tracks!  When the conflict erupted, Radio One refused to play the single 'Boneyard', and as paranoia mounted, shops refused to stock the album unless its title was changed from `Spitfire'!

The band relented and the LP was re-titled 'Young Gods'.

"In fairness, that was both a genuine setback and a genuine mistake on our part," admits Mark.  "We had to do what people said, because we weren't of the stature where we could have told `em to f**k off. "It was a real pain in the arse, 'cos two weeks later, the war was over!

`Spitfire' was a far better title than `Young Gods' and the original artwork was also vastly superior."

And exasperated Toby reflects: "It's ludicrous to think that people actually feared the Americans were gonna be blasting `Boneyard' out of their tanks as they went into battle!"

Mark: "And of course, once we'd changed the title to `Young Gods', we then got criticised for that!  Damned if you do and damned if you don't!"
